You would think this would be a simple yes or no answer, wouldn't you?

I have several answers. I like what it symbolizes as far as Brian's growth and commitment. I like the fantasy aspect of it - stables, pool, etc. I like that he bought it for his prince. I like to imagine them fucking in every room.

But, I also think that it's become a symbol for Justin giving up New York and returning to Pittsburgh and that I don't like. Cause I like Justin in NY best and Brian chasing, which is what Claudia was referring to.

So, the house itself has many meanings for me. Some come from canon and some from fanon.

My current fic that I'm struggling with? It's set in Britin. :)

Also, when you say "Brian chasing", what exactly does that mean? Does it just mean that Brian will have to give up a few things to meet Justin somewhere in the middle? Or is it more that nothing Brian does will ever be enough for Justin? Like proposing, buying a house, stopping tricking and all that. Cuz some might argue that those are pretty strong hints that Brian is chasing already, clearly designed to put Justin first. What about Justin himself saying "New York isn't the opportunity of a lifetime, Brian is"? Or is that just bad s5 writing?

I'm not aiming to sound bitchy here, btw, I'm just wondering how you can picture B/J's future together if Brian is clearly so bad for Justin. And it's not as if Justin had done a lot of chasing recently either. So maybe they are almost 'even' on that count by now (not that either of them would be counting imo)

Okay. Here goes.

I don't believe he'll come back to live anytime soon. He'll always come back to visit and Brian will keep the house or the loft and it/they will always be there for them. Kind of like the rings that Brian doesn't return. In my future for them, Brian leaves Pittsburgh not long after Justin and they live in New York together.

I think part of my belief is colored by the fact that the city is Pittsburgh. It's one of those American cities that people leave. New York is one of the cities that people go to. Especially artists. And I think of future Justin as primarily an artist.

Having said all that, I can also envision Justin and Brian living in their country home. I like to imagine them fucking in a field of Pennsylvania wildflowers on a mild Spring day. My brain, it is divided. But this future takes place a long time from now and is more a beautiful fantasy than the immediate reality of New York.

Literally chasing. He tells Ted he's going out for a latte and instead decides to drive to the airport. He shows up on Justin's doorstep, insults his furniture and sends word back to ship all his things.

The day to day operations of the club and business and Pittsburgh. But I think just as Justin was a catalyst for all the change in Brian's life since 101, he is the catalyst for the next change, Brian fulfilling his dream of moving to New York and also, much more important to me, Brian deciding that the one thing that makes life worthwhile is Justin and he is going to go be with him.

I think Justin saying yes in Britin answers this. That was enough for Justin.

Okay, here I think this was Justin's youth and protection of his new-found status with Brian and perhaps a little fear. Almost like he was being challenged just when he'd achieved something he'd wanted for so long and he spoke out quickly to make sure no one took it away. I want to tweak his nose and say, 'don't you know that Brian will always be here for you? You already have him for life. You don't have to stay to keep it this way. You've branded him forever.'

You confused me here! Why do you think I think Brian is bad for Justin? I don't believe that. My belief is pretty simple - they are two halves of one whole. They are neither good nor bad for each other. They simply must be together. It is fated. Theirs is a love for the ages.

On the concept of being even, I think in terms of paying dues in the relationship, Justin paid the heaviest price during the five years. Although I identify most with Brian (his childhood especially and how it warped his view on love), I am most moved by Justin's tender heart, wild with love and chasing after his untameable beast. You have to admit that Justin chased longest and hardest. Now, I want Brian to cross state lines!

I like that about Justin, too. I am so grateful he was just the way he was and wouldn't take no for an answer.

I'd like Brian to chase state lines, too, for a change. Actually, whether I'd like him to cross them or wouldn't, I think he'd always do it. It's the one thing I don't like about PLANS anymore. I mean, I love the whole universe and it's my s6 and 7, and (Desires) my absolute B/J happy place, but the one thing that doesn't ring true for me anymore about the time close to Justin's leaving Pittsburgh is that Brian wouldn't have done anything to go see Justin. It'd probably have taken a few phone calls or emails from Justin after a few weeks to let Brian know in no uncertain terms that Justin still thought of them as being together, but then Brian would have overcome his returned doubts that Justin really wanted him and just gone for it. And chased Justin wherever he went. And I bet he would have been bloody brilliant at it, too ;)

I just read my comment and I realize that the end makes it sound like I think it's a competition between them. I don't think that. I think of it as a natural progression on Brian's part. He is going to complete what was started all those years ago. His is the final leg of the race they've been running together. Like the relay runners in the Olympics. It's a joint effort and the celebration in the locker room will be a doozy. :)
