So, I've been working on Directions today.... it's so good to feel the fic flowing again. :)

I am going to try to finish it this weekend and send it for beta, although I may need next weekend to get it done. I should probably wait until after the Thanksgiving weekend to post it, shouldn't I?

In other news, I have bunnies for a Xena/Gabrielle fic, a Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer fic, and a Michael/Ben fic, and NO ONE but me really wants to read any of those things. It makes me sad, yo.

Although I also have a Drew/Emmett bunny and I know at least Travis likes to read those!

I'm slowly...very slowly starting to crawl out of my hole. Champ is doing a bit better but he's not out of the woods yet. His recent test results are positive and he's eating more and more on his own each day but I still have to feed him and he still has his stomach tube.

Anyhoo, I'm going to try to be around a bit more at least to check my flist. I feel so lost.

Wow, my first QAF related post in almost 2 months!

I was looking through my screen caps to find some images to use for the current 'blue' theme over at qaf_icons when I noticed something peculiar. In episodes 201, 202 & 203 Brian appears to be wearing the same blue shirt. I found that odd since you'd think the wardrobe director (is that what they're called?) would avoid having the characters wear the same clothing in back to back episodes. (Brian's black shirts don't count!) Anyway, so then I started thinking that maybe it was intentional. Perhaps they had Brian wearing blue because he was blue in those early season 2 episodes. He was still traumatized and sad about Justin's bashing and the aftermath. What do you think?

Although I've made a small amount of peace with them, I don't like the headers so common in fan fiction. I despise ratings and I really hate warnings. I don't mind author's notes if they're more or less the kind of thing that might be on a book jacket, and I love acknowledgments, which are also commonly found on books.

There are lots of things I won't read, like death!fic, and many things that make me want to gouge out my eyes with a spoon, like MPREG, and yet, I hate warnings. If a book has difficult themes, no one puts a warning on it. It's either hinted at on the book jacket, revealed in reviews, or someone who read it tells you.

It feels like infantilism and spoon-feeding. And I'm a hugely triggered person on some issues, particularly rape, child abuse, and anything even remotely scary or dealing with the supernatural, particularly vampires.

Then again, I'm not really a fandom person. Queer as Folk is the only fandom I've ever played in online, and many of these conventions have arisen out of a collective fandom consciousness I'm only on the most outer faded-out fringes of.

But I simply don't want to categorize or tag or annotate my fiction with anything different than what might appear on the cover of a book. I've lost my shit when my fic, entered in festivals/carnivals/etc has been tagged by the mods with things like "femmeslash" or "slash" or "m/m" or "f/f" or whatever. They're stories. Shit happens in them. They're more or less about this, and it's thanks to so and so it was written.

I just don't care for all this WARNING and EXPLAINING and TAGGING and CATEGORIZING.

Grrrrr.

Today at a store C and I saw a "Make Your Own-opoly".

I said, "Oh cool we could do a mixture of all our fandoms"

And she said, because she already has 5 versions of monopoly, I'm not kidding, "Or you could make your own QAF-opoly. Brian's Loft could be Board Walk."

After that a long discussion followed.

A couple of my favorite suggestions include:

Britin would be Board Walk.
The Loft would be Park Place.

The 4 Railroads would be Babylon, Woody's, The Liberty Diner and The Baths.

The first two cheapy places I suggested as Justin's apt circa season 5, and Ethan's Apt. But then C threw in that one should be the alley/street Hunter lived in. And I thought the other should be Justin's Black Bag. Because sadly, that was sort of his home.

We both agreed Jail could be the Taylor House.

Any other thoughts? We had ideas for many other abodes..The Girls' House, Deb's, Michael and Ben's, Ted's condo, Michael and Emmett's apt, Kinnetic. Etc.

I'd love to hear what you would do with the QaF world in Monopoly.

The diner plays such an important role in the show that it almost seems like it's another character. It introduced us to Debbie and it's the perfect spot for the gang to hang out.

Some of my fave scenes take place at the Liberty Diner from the PRIDE scene to Em eating his donut with a fork and it goes on.

Every Friday morning at 11:00, there was a knock on Daphne’s door.

She always greeted him with a hug and a smile, especially on the days when one glance told her that Brian’s side-effects to the radiation hadn’t improved.

Sometimes the words flowed like a river that flooded its banks, and they would laugh together and only cry a little.

Sometimes he would say nothing, just sit there, eyes worried and lost, letting her hold his hand while he chain-smoked.

She never offered him false hope because that’s not what he wanted.

Justin was fucking scared.

Daphne was his lifeline.
